Feburary 6, 2010 should be set as Otaku doomsday. No matter what I  say about how Haruhi as mauled, destroyed, and raped the Otaku community, we somehow go back for seconds. And with the new movie dated and all, well I have no choice. If this is the official date, we sure brought the Otaku doomsday much closer then I expected.

I miss a couple of days of writing while I was sick. But just because I stopped writing doesn’t mean the watching has stop, and I didn’t mind being a little sick for some Blackness.

Over the course of episode 2-4 Hei teams up with the new main character Suo. Not the biggest stretch in a tv show to pit who was believe to be the antagonist as a cooperative team. Hei as you can see from a lot of the pictures and throughout the episode is now a drunk who is worn of life, but seems to still feel for his ex companions, which likely why he took in Suo. Suo though hates Hei as she believed he killed her father and uses him as just a means to get to Japan. During this 2 episode arc they really emphasis Suo’s turn to contractor, but her feelings of hate still embody for Hei in her. So much relationship and connections are establish throughout, and we even get to see the return of Mao. You think the writing was just superb on how the many characters are reintroduce, and yet I feel like soon is going to drag because the increasing numbers of new characters starting to show up. We’ll see. For now is top notch, no hold bars.

As for the presentation I think overall is been pretty high in just everything. While the soundtrack for me compare to last season is more on the Gothic side even with a less serious cast, is not an unwelcome change.

Verdict-A robust form of storytelling. If you are ready to be entertain for the next 2 episodes, take it upon yourself to download them.

If you watched Darker then Black one then is pretty obvious that you like convulted story with no real explanations, but a great presentation that allows mystery to linger. This is the kind of show Darker than Black is, and it seems like with the second season it has neither change, nor do I care for it to change.

Let’s first start of with the story. The first episode introduce new set of characters who are twins name Suou and Shion Pavlichenko. (sounds russian) Both of them are on a trip with their father in the woods, when suddenly the stars fall and hit them, and in turn changing Shion to a contractor. The story gets more complicated from there, but it seems like a throwback to the first series way of presentation, even if it is new characters; I’m perfectly fine with that. I thought overall it had a mix of light lightheartedness in the beginning to off set the later serious tone like in the first season episode 1.I hardly want to spoil some surprises in store you viewers so I’ll leave it at that.

The animation quality is pretty much off the roof, round the bend, and then some in the action areas and tense moments of the show. Everyother scenes would be nitpicking, but if there are bad things I have to note them nonetheless. Many scenes involving minor characters at times seems like a medium quality presentation, but transition to high quality, which really throws you off at times. Is better to be bad in one area for awhile, because a transition like that you see a drastic change in the character design. Still is minor characters, which would be mean to say they show up a lot, because they don’t. Is a feast of the eyes. The music they choose is on cue, and the sound of every action seems on point, not like cheap anime having no sound in many many areas. (Kempfer to name one) If you just like eye candy then watch it with no hesistation.

Verdict-Darker Than Black never seem destined for a sequel, but it got one, and is a true successor so far. Pick it up for your own good.

Mikoto is an interesting character by herself, but when adding someone else, creating chemistry is a hard task. So when I first saw Kuroko in “Index” I was totally annoyed by her peverse nature, and being just polar opposite of Mikoto. This episode concentrate solely on Kuroko; that doesn’t make me feel any better about my earlier opinion.

The production quality in this episode is down the drain. Is as if the producers of this show thought no one would care so much about the stupid premise of this episode already that it was better to draw like crap. I mean almost the whole episode look like retard monkeys drew it, and just looked &()*() terrible. Is almost filler quality, and these kind of shows only have up to 21 episode at the most. Is a bit insulting to be honest to be pull something like this so early too.

The story itself is nothing special, as I have already said, is focus on Kuroko. Is just one of the most annoying premise, and is annoying, peverse, etc.. I don’t even want to finish writing how terrible it is.

I just can’t get myself excited for this episode, even with some of the light hearted jokes.Just pass on this episode, because is not even part of the main story I am sure.

Verdict: Please do not watch this ever.

We know it was coming some way some how. And Endless 8 was just a dang publicity stunt to hype everyone up for this. What an evil plan Kyoto Animation.

Anime as an industry has evolved from being invested to one property, into a popcorn type thing where: one title is made, tossed, and a new one is made. People like to picture this as not milking a franchise and having new material, but as you can see when Haruhi had only one season they still milked that franchise to death. Now don’t mistake investment in making new spin offs or sequels from the same franchise, which is an investment, which is different from milking, which is nothing more except churning random shitting merchandise that is worth nothing.

Now that the recession has hit every corner of the earth, we see the anime industry shift from cranking so much new property, they decided to go sequel routes. You can see from fall list coming out though, a lot of them are sequels of franchise with cliffhangers, loose end, or fan demands. The studios did not ignore market research to exploit those series some more, and by no means is this milking a franchise; instead it is quenching fans thirst in the best way possible, and that is with new titles from those series.

Take for example “To Aru Kagaku no Railgun.” Is a spin off of the Index series, but the quality of the show so far has been quite high, and is still risky to invest into it. Since it is a recession it is still overall safer to invest in this then J.C. Staff doing a completely new series from an untested property. This gives the anime more exploitation business wise, and the fans are not left with only merchandise, and instead are given a new show. I think this is a win win situation, as before we were given new series left and right, then a ton of merchandise, which left me with a sense of no connection with the series. The new model leaves fans with a lot of time with a franchise, letting the overall series to have more recognition leading to more sales, and forcing fans not to shift there money to a new series, which can lead them to a different studio’s work.

The anime industry unlike before is playing it safe, and that may not be such a bad thing. Before was a time of experiment, where a model of 13 episodes, then new series worked well. Still as time went on it was not a safe investment for both fans and the company, and cheapen the property instead of giving it more value. Maybe a recession isn’t so bad after all.

One of my favorite series returns with a side story. But is that enough for us fans to comeback for seconds, or doom by Misaka shooting us with her railgun?

This site was founded because I was bored and wanted to talk about my daily life, and review “To Aru Majutsu No Index.” The novel, anime, manga, and etc. are what basically founded this blog anime review style and preference, so is no wonder I pick this show up. And boy that was not a wrong move by any means. With the great presentation quality, sound work, and everything that is part of an anime package, is a wonder studios don’t invest more on spinoffs rather then sequels.

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun focuses on one main character in the Index anime, which is “Mikoto Misaka.” An interesting character in the original series, but her background was only explore in one area, which were her clones. This time we get to see Mikoto-san in normal everyday life as a student in the school of “Tokiwada”, an esper school for rich kiddes. You also meet Railgun only faces like Kazari Uiharu and Ruiko Saten, with old faces like Kuroko Shirai still in the mix. Each one has very interesting personalities; each individual also having flaws that I can tell are later explored.

The animation quality on this one is top notch. I can rarely find transition frames that seem like they were done by idiots, so I can only imagine a dinosaur zombie fairy drew the whole show. J.C. Staff was never one to really mess around in animation quality for a short 13 episode series (except Zero no Tsukaima), and this is due to the impeccable staff members they stole from Sunrise. As long as the quality is this good, I don’t care if they poach workers from Bangladesh.

I just thought this is a must watch first episode for anyone, with elements such as: Mikoto Awesomeness, funky pantsu flashing, interesting anime like story, and just pure Railgun.

Verdict: A must watch for anime fans. And of course Yuri fans.

I want a ps3, but I have a broken RROD 360 that is not covered now by warranty. THANKYOU MICROSOFT. So I will be picking up a ps3 due to this game. The reviews so far too have been so good. Watch the reviews, because you might just own 2 or 3 consoles just to get a taste of this.

PS:Gametrailers needed to give this game a better score. I don’t care if a 9.3 is already a must buy, just put a 10 on it.
