I am full of myself, and I have an ego the size of the earth, so is not usually my place to criticize others ego. That is until those elitist anime fans who proclaim they are not elitist start touting that they are saving some Otaku scene that was destroy by the mainstream, or merchandise buyers,  and even random crap like them liking things not passionately enough. The word Otaku now has a different meaning then it had before, and now is used in a positive connotation, at least in America. So why are there so many “cool kids” thinking that is used wrongly? Because all of them want to stick to some Japanese traditional meaning that is nowhere near what we used the term as in even modern Japan or in America. In America we often borrow words from other languages, but in turn lose much of it’s meaning or even pronunciation. After quite awhile is used in a fashion that was not even close to is derived origin, but no one seems to give a damn.

These Otaku scene saviors are nothing more then old anime fans who feel the need to reclaim the territory that has been taking up by the new generation. They claim that mainstream shows suck, but pretty much no anime is underground or unknown. Unless you want to count the one for children I likely have seen most of the anime’s you can list. And if you really are talking about underground to the point where you can only buy it at “Comiket” or some bullocks like that, then those would not exist without the mainstream market pretty much holding the industry and popularizing anime to the point where it could even have an underground scene. Adults take a lot of offense for some reason, even more so then children when it comes to something they like. I love stirring up shit storms, mostly because the internet is totally “srz beeznez”, and somehow people feel the need to use it as a place to flame war the shit out of. It entertains me. It makes me a bit sad. It just downright baffling.

This actually reminds me of religious revolutions that happens all the time in the US. One faction believes they love god more then the other, then goes into the church, preach, then continues to bitch until their interpretation of god is all but encompasses every part of that church they went in. Then it continues till it spreads like wildfire. After awhile they sit with this reformation, and then it happens again. Is like a cycle of bitching about who has the correct terminology or interpretation of this or that.

There is no such thing as fake scene, the scene, or any real specific groups made for anime lovers. People enjoy the medium the way they want to. Just go bang a blow up doll called Sabre and call yourself an Otaku for all I care. If that is what you interpret as burning devotion for the anime you like then go for it. But there is no need to bitch all day about how someone goes about doing this or that as long as they enjoy what they are doing.

Of course with people like that, they get a new herd of followers. For some reason people find the need to flock to the “Revolutionist”. The one that is supposedly going to help save them and their group. Why does everything done seem to hearken back to religious type actions.

  1. People bitch about something.
  2. People think you are now cool because you are different and follow.
  3. You get people defending your ideals because they just think you are cool.
  4. You finally think you are cool.
  5. Shit brakes out.
  6. I laugh.

Sit on your high horse all you want people, but the same thing is going to happen to you, and will continue to happen.

We all heard the story of poor mangakas, but when they get famous they get some money alright. Shinjou Mayu a famous shoujou mangaka has posted pictures of her office for an ad looking for an assistance( can be seen you know up there!). This is one nice studio from what I can tell. You guys see the Louis Vuitton bag right? RIGHT?!

Anime Industry In A Rut

Wall Street Journal Anime Industry Video

A another video about the anime industry sucking? Oh noez.

This video is a bit different from the rest though. It analyze the working conditions of workers, and even tell the condition of Otakus themselves not showing up much in Japan anymore. Worth watching no?

I myself already put my own opinions on how the industry is actually benefiting from this, but it seems more and more that I may be wrong. Put your input as a comment below to share your opinion.

That’s the damn license replacement song. Now do not bash me for being an Otaku and not know music. I listen to “the Decemberist”, Forgive Durden, Owl City, Born Ruffian, Kanye West, Coldplay, Animal Collective, Radiohead, Muse, and pretty much every type of genre. Leona Lewis is an RnB singer, and the song clearly does not reflect the asian theme in FF13.

Isn’t school a pain in the butt for both me and Suo? At least Hei is the one teaching her how to be a contactor. Continue Reading »

Feburary 6, 2010 should be set as anime fans doomsday. No matter what I  say about how Haruhi as mauled, destroyed, and raped the Otaku community, we somehow go back for seconds. And with the new movie dated and all, well I have no choice. If this is the official date, we sure brought the Otaku doomsday much closer then I expected.

Darker than BLACK 2 - 04 - Large 01

I miss a couple of days of writing while I was sick. But just because I stopped writing doesn’t mean the watching has stop, and I didn’t mind being a little sick for some Blackness. Continue Reading »

Darker than BLACK 2 - 01 - Large 41

If you watched Darker then Black one then is pretty obvious that you like convulted story with no real explanations, but a great presentation that allows mystery to linger. This is the kind of show Darker than Black is, and it seems like with the second season it has neither change, nor do I care for it to change. Continue Reading »

tonelico1

Canned doggs just loves one upping everyone in obtaning the information every Otaku wants. Well they got another magazine break in the announcement of Ar Tonelico 3.
